Gerardo de la Torre is an experienced automotive supply chain executive with extensive experience leading Nissan’s regional and global supply chain, manufacturing and digitalisation. He is currently responsible for supply chain management (SCM) operations in Mexico and Brazil, and leads strategic topics across supply chain compliance, innovation and the promotion of digital solutions across Nissan in Americas.  

Since joining Nissan in 1989, De la Torre has held key roles across supply chain, procurement and operations across the Americas, and more recently has led initiatives across the region and globally. During 2021-2022, he led Nissan Americas’ semiconductor supply crisis management strategy, enabling incremental production volume during the severe global supply crisis, receiving the 2021 Global Nissan President Special Award in Yokohama Japan. 

Since 2023, Gerardo de la Torre has led Nissan’s initiative to launch a subassembly and manufacturing operation in Texas, which has helped the company to enable comply fully with USMCA localisation requirements for Mexican-build models, a solution which won the Nissan Americas Chairman Award in 2023. 

Gerardo de la Torre and his team have also launched the Nissan Americas Supply Sourcing Tier-N Digital Database Program, a visibility and supplier mapping initiative that has helped Nissan drive resilience and compliance improvements in its supply chain. By providing greater insight on locations and plants for multiple levels of sub-suppliers, this database has helped Nissan validate sourcing for human rights, identify and promote US content sources to reduce and mitigate tariffs costs, whilst also driving efficiencies in total delivered cost and logistics optimisation from Tier-N to Tier-1 and to Nissan plants.
